As we enter into the season of gratitude and thanksgiving, we wanted to take a moment to honor the amazing people behind our organic, safe, cozy pieces. We have the absolute privilege to work with the most amazing partners in the textile industry, and are beyond grateful for their expertise, attention to detail, and dedication to uphold the highest standards of GOTS - the Global Organic Textile Standard. When we first learned more about the conventional cotton industry, it became imperative to us that we found partners we could trust to uphold the highest standards we could find. After countless hours of research and scouting trustworthy facilities, we landed on our current partners now, Kanodia. We want to give them the credit they deserve and we want to share their stories and introduce you to the people who inspire us to do better every single day. So without further ado, meet the Kanodia Team!
The artisan workshop was first started by the Grandfather, but is now a full-blown family business, including his two granddaughters, who now hold management positions within the business.
We are reminded time and again, through our zoom calls & communication with our partners, WHY we do it. As a young business, we are often frustrated with the amount of paperwork and cost associated with regulatory compliance. However, it is far too common in the textile industry that the safety and well-being of farmers & artisans behind the pieces are compromised. So, our partners conduct inspections to ensure working conditions are safe and fair wages are being paid. They run periodic testing to ensure that harmful chemicals aren't in the products you buy for your family and that our craftspeople aren't exposed to their risks. By going the extra mile to ensure standards are being upheld to produce GOTS certified textiles, we can be sure that our partners are protected, from farmers and harvesters, to processors and artisans.
It is a part of our mission to share their story, and the Lot Number Program was created to do just this. All of your pieces have a lot number on the back of their tags that you can use to find out more about the certifications, factories and artisans behind your new zestt purchase.
Simply visit www.zesttorganics.com/transparency and enter your lot no. You'll be taken to a page where we share your GOTS certification number, talk about any additional certifications your product boasts, as well as introduce you to the factory where your product was made and what they are doing to create a more ethical production environment.
